Felinfach 6

I just managed to make it for this race with work coming in the way again. Finished work at 7.00 and was at the start line for 7.30 looking for a sub from someone as I'd forgotten my wallet. Managed to grab a £10 er from Mr Aber AC John E and made my way to the start line. Managed one painfull run in the week after physio and was not expecting any performance. The group set off with G.P setting off in the distance and with a group of 8 of us settling at a very sensible pace I was happy to stroll along. 3 miles in I was finding things steady and decided to make 2nd place my own by putting in a burst of pace. I managed to loose the pack but had 1 on my heels. The pace picked up all the way around with my push on the hills giving me a brake on the flats. Dropped to 3rd with 2 miles to go before putting down the hammer to gain 2nd and a nicepush to the end. So much for steady running!! 35.20 far from a fast pace but happy to have kept 2nd.
1st open male = £10 which went straight into John pocket. Thanks.

Pembrey Crit Series 12

Looking forward to this evening race night for sometime and with the prospect of racing around the full Race circuit  it promised to be fast and open. Went down with a couple of the ystwyth boys and we all made it to the 4th Cat race at 7.00pm. Settled on the rear of the pack for most of the race, witnessing 2 huge crashes which included MR H. Looked to make a break during the last 3 laps but naturally the pace increased. Got into one break which looked promising with 3 of us from Ystwyth but with one of the group failing to keep up the pressure the group soon caught up. Finished just outside the top 10 and ready for the next race. Spent  all night in casualty with my driver who had 4 stitches on the chin and plenty of nasty cuts.

Hot off the Press - Pembrey pull out of hosting the summer series, all cancelled. Absolutely gutted. Running shoes back on.

Castles Relay 2012

Having been off the running for 4 weeks following the bike crash I was a little rusty going into this event and with the stage proving to be a tough hilly course it was going to be a long 10mile crawl. An Team event which suprised me with an enormous crowd gathering around the Dolgellau car park ready for Stage 7 of 20 it involved 20 stages around 10 miles long from Caernarfon to Cardiff. Stage starting at 4.00pm it was a long day for most people who had to suffer with the biggest floods the Aberystwyth area had ever seen and with most roads closed it was lucky the event still went ahead. My run a long drag out of dolgellau coming out in cross foxes and continuing ahead on the main road towards Dinas Mawddwy. Finished 1h3min in the top 20, felt strong but struggled to get any pace out of the biking legs. Speed sessions the training schedule for the summer nights.

Sarn Helen finished 15th Overall.
