Aber Halfords series Cat4 Race

Bo*****s, bike and body in pieces. Good race which I should have paced a little smoother. In the front group going into last lap but the railings had been eyeing me up and caught me on the penultimate lap. Lucky to escape with no broken bones. New Wheel and a twist of the handlebars should have me back for the pembray crits. Few weeks off, feet up. Time to watch the flame go by.

Cwrtnewydd 4 2012

With 18miles in the legs on the Sunday this was a brave move. Got on the bike to the event to stretch the pain out, made a huge difference. A local race which always attracts a competitive field and no holding back running. Slowly got to speed and picked off a few places before settling in 6th and finishing strongly on the B****** hill to the finish.

Ras y Diafol 2012

18 mile x-country beast of a race which forms part of the Barcud coch weekend. Work commitments held me back for the 11mile Welsh Trail champ on the Saturday and with a limited field turning up for the sunday it was a hit or miss day. Went straight up front with Aber and Cardiff runner and settled for a comfortable but fast pace which quickly slowed down once the hills started.

3 miles in a long twisiting rocky climb had me making my mark on the other runners with my climbing legs feeling strong.

Lost time on the flats due to my slow running speed but with a large climb to the heights of Meheryn fforest I was able to put some time on the other two and enjoyed a gd battle with the Bulgarian up to the windmills over ysbyty ystwyth. With no water or fuel on board I was stopping at each feed station to top up with jelly babies and water, which gave me the boost i needed to keep going. The flats once again my downfall we reached the fforest road back towards the arch where i grabbed some Jellys and headed dwon hill. From this point it was single track and now running downhill towards Devils Bridge I thought to myself this was a perfect chance to go for the win. (4 miles left). A terrible move with the path quickly turning once again up back towards the arch and the next mile was all vertical single path running. Had a little walk but with the smell of winning firing me on I was not slowing. Great feeling of running for glory and finished couple of minutes ahead of the rest with a massive smile. Finally broken my duck and won an event. Chuffed to bits with the race and winning a pair of £100 Solomon's capped off a great day. Van breaking down in the morning can be forgotten
